Twice this morning people in my dreams argued with me about getting up when the alarm went off. When I argued and told them that I was sleeping and that was my alarm, they had other reasons for the sounds. I actually had to argue my way out of sleeping. This is like including the alarm clock in your dreams on a whole new level. And it happened twice because I was having such a clear dream that I wanted to get back into it so I just hit snooze. Sleeping really does rule.
So do Diesel Sweeties.

Saturday highlights:
Trying to attend AnonFed and getting denied access to Smartbar. My fake id is gone and I was out of breath for a block or two after getting paranoid and running away. I hope they just throw it away because it does have my real name and real address just replacing Illinois with Maryland and Waldorf with Elmhurst. I’ve heard of people cracking down on that sort of thing.
Jerry threw a kegger so it was all good.
The number of people who I love far outnumbering the people who I don’t love.
Just the right mix of kids I’ve seen around and seem cool and kids who I know are cool.
Not chipping anyone’s teeth at this party.
Huge rain.
Little people twins dancing on tables. To the Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack no less. I love those girls.
Fooseball? I didn’t play, but all the houses had tables. Everyone and their brother having one of these is new to me.
Having an idea of what should be as opposed to what is. Seeing it play out. Don’t ask me what I’m talking about.
The greatest porch ever. Three houses combined into one party.
Hearing that my ideas for bands may actually happen.
Beautiful temperatures.
Good friends, good friends relatives, good friends relatives friends. Good as in sloshed on that last one.
Post rain smell.
Street lamps and headlights through trees.
Much love.

When I go to bed with my ears ringing even though I was wearing ear plugs, my ass has officially been rocked. Explosions in the Sky played one of the most near perfect sets I’ve ever seen last night. There were no stops, the first half was all new, they covered everything from extremely quiet to enormously loud, they made no mistakes and there were only about 30 other people there to observe it. It may have been a matter of the right band at the right moment doing the right thing, but damn it felt good to see. I go to a lot of shows and I almost never feel like I did last night. Four stars.

Turn the lights down, get a comfortable chair, put on some headphones, fullscreen that browser and check out boardsofcanada.com. DOPE.
Guns are stupid. Here is more proof. A gun giveaway. No joke.
Star Wars’ new ad campaign is fucking brutal. Brutally bad that is. Unless they have purposely made ads that feel completely opposite to the film, they fucked up bad. I found a flier that said Purple Light Saber for sale. Go to this website. It was made on a photocopier. I thought it was humorous. I come to find out that that this site is actually owned by Lucasfilm. This is really their ad campaign! Fucking photocopied fliers? If you click on the logo it will go to another microsite that is similar with fake photoshopped fliers in wierd locations. The fliers are real and this is really their web campaign. I keep having to say it because I can barely believe it myself. 1. These were created with no thought about the film whatsoever. 2. They prove that modern (as in last 3-4 years) Star Wars movies have totally lost any cool they had. 3. What the hell were they thinking? USEEKYODA.com!?!?! wow.

Tonight is day 1 of three days of fun provided by the fake id. If it works everywhere I’ll be a happy man. Explosions in the Sky is tonight at the Abbey Pub, I preordered a ticket so they had better let me in. Friday I still have to find something to do that involves using a fake id, and Saturday is AnonFed. That’s the high stakes night, Smart Bar is supposed to be hard to get into and that’s something I really need to get into. Bah. I’m only going to make myself more nervous when I’m trying to act cool at the door by thinking about it now.
It’s a good day to talk about media I guess. I haven’t done that in a while. I consume a lot of stuff, albums, movies, books, etc. So I want to talk about them. Eat it.
I watched Dead Man last night. It rules. Johnny Depp, black and white, the west, Iggy Pop, soundtrack by Neil Young, “That weapon will replace your tongue. You will learn to speak through it. And your poetry will now be written with blood.” Also on the schedule to be watched soon are I Shot Andy Warhol and Basquait. Warhol tangent. What can I say, it has to happen every few years.
On the music tip, right now U-Ziq - Brace Yourself is playing. I think it’s B-Sides from Lunatic Harness because it was released so near to it and the first track is a Brace Youself remix. More U-Ziq is always good. Other stuff I’ve been listening to a lot: Dinosaur Jr., My Bloody Valentine, Drive Like Jehu (party like it’s 1991 right?), the new Wilco record which rules, Frank Black, Anti-Pop Consortium, Explosions in the Sky, Jackie-O Motherfucker and Slanted and Enchanted. Actually I haven’t been listening to them a lot, just that’s the last few albums I’ve listened to. I could review them, but hey I listened to them, obviously I like them or I would have stopped them.
I’m reading On the Road and Nine Stories sort of at the same time. On the Road is for on the train, Nine stories is for at the desk. Oh, and no, I’m not doing any of my homework thanks for asking. Let’s see, Salinger or Data Analysis.
Worst written post ever.

Some kids you can’t take anywhere. Last night’s experience of Bottle Rocket on the big screen was only interrupted by a drunk friend mumbling through the first half of the movie. He was passed out half way through and stopped interrupting the film. Basically I was just embarassed to be anywhere near him for a viewing of one of the greatest films ever. There are some places you should be drunk and it’s ok to act like it. Parties, bars, etc. Not at the movies. I could even excuse going to see a really bad movie drunk just to make it fun. But you don’t need to be drunk for good movies. And even if you are drunk, everyone doesn’t need to know it. That’s all.
Q and not U rocked tonight. The metro was too big a place to play and their set was short but they are super good.

So either my heart’s not working as well as it should be or my veins have grown significantly weaker, but either way it’s really easy to cut off my circulation this morning. I woke up with both arms asleep despite the fact that i was laying on my back and sitting down makes my legs fall asleep. Crossing my legs makes my feet fall asleep and just leaning on my arm makes it fall asleep too. When I woke up I thought I had had a stroke in the middle of the night. When I start sleeping in a new bed, like at the beginning of the year or break I wake up with miscellaneous body parts out of commission but I usually don’t have command over it like I do this morning. I wonder what happened last night.
